Teach Yourself Guitar
Tips on Learning Guitar on Your Own
If you want to teach yourself guitar, it would not be easy at first. The process will be extra difficult if you will be starting from scratch. Not knowing anything about music will be a hindrance but that can be overcome by hard work. There are easy to understand instructional guitar books that could be used by absolute guitar beginners. You could probably get one from your library or from your local bookstore. It is better to get one from the library, though. At least, you would not have to pay for the book that you are going to use.
The only obvious advantage of buying a book of your own is that you would get to use it to teach yourself guitar for a longer period of time. However, these books can be a little pricey. You might be able to save a little if you choose to download ebooks from the web. There are a lot of these and you would be surprised that some websites actually provide ebooks for free. Most often, though, these do not contain sufficient information for you to teach yourself guitar. Some of these free ebooks only include introduction to the art of playing guitar and do not put emphasis on the actual learning. You can choose to get those that are being sold for a small amount. Those are usually more complete and more reliable when it comes to teaching.
Of course, just reading books would not get you anywhere far. What you need to do is supplement your reading with instructional videos. You can look for instructional DVDs or just online videos with actual musicians teaching the proper ways of strumming. You will find a lot of these videos in free video-sharing websites such as YouTube. By simply watching these free videos, you would be able to teach yourself guitar. You can also learn other techniques from musicians and become a better guitarist in time.
For most people, it just takes a few months for them to master the basics of playing the guitar. After learning the basics, you would then need to concentrate on the technique. The technique that you would have to master would depend on the genre that you want to be an expert in. You can choose to master electric guitar and play mostly rock music or concentrate on acoustic. To become better, you need to listen to more songs and practice playing those songs using your guitar.
