Means of instruction are different for skilled musicians and beginners so reading those written for long-time learners can cause confusion for guitar newbies.

There are also instruction guitar DVDs for you to better learn how to play the instrument. By supplementing your learning with an instructional DVD, you would be able to see how the guitar is actually played by a real musician. You can also use the DVD if you are having some difficulty in understanding the instruction guitar book. That way, you would not get stuck with a certain part and would be able to learn much faster. To further speed up the learning process, you can also listen to a lot of guitar tracks. It would be helpful to listen to songs in the genre you are interested in. Classical and contemporary guitar are two of the genres you can try exploring once you master the guitar basics.
